Sunday took me over to Nottingham for the wedding of Kate and James at the wonderful Thrumpton Hall and a nice surprise…….. the sun came out to play. We had all prepared for rain and grey skies, but Kate and James started their married life under mostly blue sky and sunshine. The couple had both the ceremony and reception at this stunning wedding venue. A big thank you to Lyn from Thrumpton Hall, who made me feel very welcome and was really helpful on the day.

Being a Cheshire wedding photographer, it was nice to get out to a totally new venue in a new area of the country. It’s always a challenge and I look forward to exploring any new wedding venues, finding all those great little spots inside and out to capture new shots to add to my wedding photography portfolio.

Moving onto the wedding celebrations, and the ceremony was held in one of Thrumpton Hall’s traditional rooms, and was an intimate ceremony complete with real life fire place gently crackling away and big windows overlooking the lake.

The stunning grounds of Thrumpton make it easy for wedding photographers to provide a natural and relaxing environment for the wedding photography, and it was a joy to work with Kate and James.

After the ceremony we moved over to Thrumpton’s marquee, which is one of the best I have been in. Provided by Bond Marquees, it was the perfect mix of traditional wedding ceremony venue and modern reception facilities. I was extremely spoiled and was provided with a great meal from Helen from Maverick Venues, who did the catering which was delicious.

The party started early into the evening with Kate and James’ band performing their first dance song.

So there we have it, a great wedding day, brilliant couple, stunning weather, amazing wedding venue and a very happy wedding photographer – why would I want to do anything else???

Statham Lodge Wedding Photography – Carly and Ste – Cheshire Wedding Photographer

My latest Cheshire Wedding saw me head over to Statham Lodge, a stunning wedding venue in the heart of Cheshire which is always a popular wedding venue. It was Carly and Stevens big day, and although the day started off with rain, we managed to grab some time outside to get the photos they wanted. Carly and Ste were both an absolute dream to work with, with Carly particularly mastering the seductive pout for some of the more dramatic shots at the end. I had already done an engagement photoshoot with them and so it was a very easy day for me.

The Staff at Statham Lodge were terrific and I was very well looked after which is always nice.

So onto the photos and it was off in the morning to visit Carly as she was getting ready……….

Melanie and Craig – Wedding Photography – Melbourne View Hotel, Melbourne

I have been so busy recently I have not had chance to blog some of my latest work and so I thought I would start with Melanie and Craig’s wedding at the Melbourne View Hotel in Melbourne. I had the pleasure of spending a very sunny and relaxing day with Melanie and Craig for their intimate wedding at the Melbourne View Hotel. I had a great time with this brilliant couple and all their guests and it was a pleasure to be able to be their wedding photographer.

Laura and Charlie – Wedding Photography The Alderley Edge Hotel, Cheshire

I had the pleasure of spending a lovely and very sunny day with Laura and Charlie recently for their wedding in Alderley Edge, in the heart of Cheshire. Although we were forcast rain for the day, the weather was great, very sunny and the guests got to enjoy the relaxing grounds of the hotel. I was up bright and early to meet Laura at her parent’s house, where the girls were all busily getting ready……..

Laura and Tom – Engagement Shoot – Cuerden Valley Park

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Laura and Tom for an engagement shoot at Cuerden Valley Park late last week. After the rain had poured for most of the week the sun made a surprise appearance and we had great weather walking around the park. They were both a great couple to work with and I had a great time and hopefully they will be pleased with the resulting images.

My most recent engagement shoot was with Joey and Mark and I spent a very enjoyable hour with them at Wythenshawe Park in Manchester. Joey and Mark were a great couple to work with and I am very happy that they have chosen me to be their wedding photographer on their special day.

Helen and John – Wedding Photography, St Chads Church, Liverpool

Last Friday I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Helen and John at St Chad’s Church in Liverpool. I had a great day and the weather behaved itself after a week of rain. St Chad’s church is a fabulous church, with really high ceilings and stunning glass windows – it’s a huge venue. I joined the girls early in the morning to capture some preparation shots before moving onto the church for the ceremony.

Tissington Hall – Wedding Photography – Workshop

As a Cheshire wedding photographer who is constantly striving to be the very best, workshops are a very important way for a wedding photographer to try new ideas away from the pressures of a real life wedding. I was lucky enough to attend a recent workshop at the stunning wedding venue of Tissington Hall in Derbyshire.

These workshops are not learning environments where you are taught by another photographer, they are much more relaxed and a chance for fellow photographers to meet and shoot new ideas, in the safety of a workshop environment away from a couples special day. I attended the workshop with a set agenda to focus on the more dramatic lighting techniques I have been using when photographing my couples first dance shots. I love lighting and the affect it can have on a photograph and so wanted to try expanding this into others areas of the day such as the bridal portraits. I also wanted the images to have a slight edgy feel to them, so it was pouts more than smiles.

Workshops such as these don’t come together easily and Sinon Revill spent a lot of time organising local suppliers and so a big thank you to him and the following wedding vendors. Make up was provided by Amanda Johnson whilst hair styling was done by Emma Buck. Two immaculate 1980′s Rolls Royces were provided by Peak Wedding Hire and Oakley Wedding Cars who moved them around for the photographers all day. Wedding dresses were provided by Mandie at Formal and Fabulous with the bouquets being supplied by Tineke Floral Designs. Last but not least I would like to give a big thank you to the models for the day who were amazing, very patient and they even stood out in the rain so thank you all.

A special mention to Hasselblad who turned up with a team of people and a couple of their cameras, one of which was over £17k to let us have a play with during the day.

Dunham Massey – Engagement Photo Shoot – Harshini and Raj

My second shoot of the weekend saw me go over to Dunham Massey in Cheshire for a meeting with Harshini and Raj. Another fun couple to work with, Harshini and Raj both wanted a 1 hour portrait session to then use the photos with their Indian wedding invitation stationary, which I think is such a great idea. We spent an hour walking around the beautiful grounds of this national trust site on the look out for the deer which roam the grounds and can often be seen.

Arley Hall Wedding – Engagement Photo Shoot – Emily and Paul

The weather this weekend really made me feel as though spring was here and I had the pleasure of meeting up with Emily and Paul for an engagement photo shoot at Arley Hall in Cheshire. We spent an hour around the gardens, which are beautifully maintained, with the sun shining. Emily and Paul were great to work with, very relaxed and chatty as we spent time exploring all the gardens of this stunning wedding venue. I was also lucky enough to have a tour of the hall with them and there are some amazing locations for wedding photography, including a fabulous staircase and library as well as rooms with nice big windows.
